Donald Trump appeared to back away from a discussion on Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday, questioning the value of the meeting and saying he would probably discuss it, but he could also make a case for not doing so.

In an interview aired Monday night at Fox News Channel, Trump repeatedly pressed Harris to stick to the debate before giving a more pointed answer than he has given in recent days.

The former Republican president showed interest in debating President Joe Biden when he was the Democratic nominee, months after Biden suggested he wasn’t mentally ready for the matchup or the presidency. After Biden discontinued of the race and Harris was poised to become the Democratic presidential nominee, Trump is asking the terms of the original debate he agreed to with Biden. He recommended moving the Sept. 10 debate on ABC News to a different network, calling ABC fake news.

Last week, in a phone call with reporters, Trump was asked if he was committed to debating Harris at least once. He responded: “Yes, absolutely”.

During Monday’s interview, host Laura Ingram asked Trump repeatedly on whether he would commit to the debate.

Trump said that he wants to debate.as he mentioned that Everyone knows who he was, and people also know who she is.

He went on for a minute, saying any negotiations would have to happen before early voting begins in states, then added, “The answer is yes, but I can also make a case for not doing that.”

In 2024 Trump skipped Republican presidential primary debates earlier . He initially did not participate after suggesting that the time was too early and then questioned someone else’s platform before clarifying that he would not participate in any of those discussions.

The Republican candidate tried to clarify statements he made at a sufficient event last week when he told a viewer of Christians in an interview Monday that he “doesn’t need to vote any longer.”

He said, Christians who say they don’t vote significantly must vote ‘just this once’ and don’t have to do it over again.

He said that in four years “it will be settled, and well, my beautiful Christians, you won’t have to vote anymore.

The comments drew alarm from Democrats and others who refused to accept the results because of Trump’s use of authoritarian language, past comments that he would only be a dictator his behavior on the first day after losing the 2020 presidential election.

His campaign and supporters offered various interpretations of Trump’s comments, prompting Ingram to explain what he meant.

Trump mentioned that ‘Always exercise your right to vote.’ Vote this time, you’ll never have to vote again.

Ingraham insisted that he would serve only four years, and that Christians would not need to vote for him.

Trump began his answer by talking about the voting rates of Christians and gun owners, and Ingram interrupted to ask him again.

“Don’t worry about the future. Vote You must vote on November 5. No need to worry about the vote after that. I don’t care because we’re going to get better, the country is going to settle down and we don’t even need your vote because obviously, we have that kind of love.

Trump made similar comments at another Christian-focused event last month, in which he bemoaned the turnout rates of Christians and implored them to participate in the election.
